Books
Books are an important part of our educational development. It’s the oldest form of transforming our mind into text for others to read.
It’s only by text that we really can understand the history and development of cultures, philosophies and science. Without a written word we have no history.
This power has been understood by many world rulers which has resulted to great creations such: Marcus Aurelius Meditation, Plato’s Republic and Sun Zhu’s Bin Fan (the art of war) but also the burning of books at the start of the second world war en the start of communistic times in China and Russia.
It’s earliest forms written in clay and cut into stones like the Sumerian carvings from +/- 2400 BC. later by the Egyptians on papyrus and Chinese on bamboo.
Our human emotional and technical development has depended on the written form of information. Literature has made us think in a broader way and expended the horizon of imaginations. The invention of multiplying text in the form of a printed book has escalated the world’s development.
Even in the todays world of electronics we should not forget the history of the written word.
